My Journey into Therapeutic Bodywork

My practice is built on a lifelong love for healing touch that began when I massaged my mother’s aching feet and shoulders after work as a young child. I continued to massage for the love of healing. In healing others and the world, I found healing for myself in all of our interconnectedness.

Seven years ago I completed an Asian massage, Acupressure and Qi Gong training program. I was drawn to  the Asian methods of massage that are based in over 5000 years of mind-body-spirit healing studies.

Embedded in Thai and Shiatsu, which are about 3000 years old, is a combination of scientific medicine, energy healing, deep physical work, and spiritual and emotional balancing. I practiced these methods with amazing success for 7 years on a variety of people and conditions, independently and at healing clinics. I believe, based on my experience giving and receiving this kind of massage, that all of the embodied, ancient wisdom in these practices makes it almost impossible to not give an excellent massage every time.

More recently, I returned to deepen my Qi Gong training and to learn Western methods of massage – Swedish, Deep Tissue and Sports/Injury Massage.  These help bring another layer to my healing perspective and my ability to address specific conditions with a more holistic and comprehensive toolkit.
